Storming of the Bastille / Prise de la Bastille

We stormed the Bastille of Grenoble, instead of the Parisian one, on the 5th August instead of the 14th July in order to cheat the enemy. Unplugged, we’ve offered our bio and green country, blues & rockabilly although we were performing close to an old building that once stored nuclear waste. For the second time since August 2013 within the « A La Bastille » theater festival we took up the stage of one of the Bastille amphitheaters that offer a unique scenery of the city below. Radio-active or not, the wind was blowing to amplify our one-and-half-hour set.
This was also the first public appearance of Fabrice « Fabulous Bassman » Besson with the Combo. Fabrice and his double-bass, that’s a slapping beat and dark melodies that remind the great Willie Dixon.
Thanks to all who came with the cable-car or sportingly by foot or fearless by driving on a 30% slope.

Sans culotte mais vêtus de jeans, nous avons pris la Bastille de Grenoble au lieu de celle de Paris, le 5 août et non le 14 juillet afin de tromper l’ennemi. Débranchés, nous avons proposé notre country, blues & rockabilly dans une veine bio et écolo malgré la proximité de bâtiments où étaient encore récemment stockés des déchets nucléaires. Pour la deuxième fois depuis août 2013 dans le cadre du festival « A La Bastille » organisé par la troupe des Bleus de Sassenage, nous avons occupé la scène d’un des amphithéâtres de la Bastille qui offrent une vue imprenable sur la ville. Radio-actif ou pas, le vent a soufflé pour amplifier notre performance d’une heure et demie.
C’était la première en public de Fabrice « Fabulous Bassman » Besson au sein du Combo. Fabrice et sa contrebasse, c’est du rythme en slap et des mélodies ténébreuses qui rappellent le grand Willie Dixon.
Merci à tous ceux qui étaient présents, venus en téléphérique, sportivement à pied ou hardiment en voiture sur des pentes à 30%.
