The Combo at 69 ? What is that ? 69 musicians in the Combo ? 69 people in the audience ? Was the Combo playing at an altitude of 69 meters/feet on Saturday ? Was the Combo performing at the 69th parallel beyond a polar circle ? Was the Combo driving at 69 km/h or mph ? Was the Combo playing in a room heated at 69ºC or cooled at 69ºF ? Or was the Combo performing in a Kama Sutra position ? No way ! The Combo isn’t a porn band yet and Le 69 is not a bordello but a hard rockin’ restaurant/bar in the suburb of Grenoble. We had the great pleasure to perform at a place where even heavy-metal bands can perform with no issue regarding neighborhood disturbance, a musician’s dream. Until now this is the largest stage we’ve ever played. The 69 team made it with a real stage, stage lights and smoke, like in a stadium. Since our last performance, our (de)tour in the city left some people on the sidewalk and for the first time we got Mathieu servicing on drums and thus we were performing as a power trio in the great rock’n’roll tradition. Our guest-star Gilbert offered us some nice blues licks with his harmonica. We went beyond the rock’n’roll tradition though as we finished the gig with a gang of rappers slamming on our rock’n’roll.

Le Combo au 69 ? À 69 ? 69 musiciens maintenant dans le Combo ? 69 personnes dans le public ? Le Combo a-t-il joué à 69 mètres d’altitude samedi soir ? Le Combo a-t-il joué au 69ème parallèle au-delà d’un cercle polaire ? Le Combo roule à 69 km/h ? Le Combo a-t-il joué dans une salle chauffée à 69ºC ou refroidie à 69ºF ? Ou le Combo joue-t-il désormais dans une position du kama-sutra ? Absolument pas ! Le Combo n’est pas encore un groupe porno et Le 69 n’est pas un bordel mais un restaurant-bar, haut lieu du rock, dans les faubourgs de Grenoble. Nous avons eu le plaisir de jouer dans un endroit où même les groupes de metal peuvent jouer sans déranger le voisinage, un rêve de musicien. C’est à ce jour la scène la plus vaste que nous ayons occupée, jouant parfois à plus de 3 mètres de nos amplis ! L’équipe du 69 fait les choses en grand avec une vraie scène, des projecteurs et de la fumée comme dans les stades. Depuis notre dernier concert, notre (dé)tour dans la ville a laissé des gens sur le trottoir et pour la première fois Mathieu a servi au sein du Combo à la batterie et nous avons pu jouer comme un power trio dans la grande tradition du rock’n’roll. Notre guest-star Gilbert nous a gratifiés de quelques beaux phrasés d’harmonica. Nous sommes cependant allés au-delà de la tradition rock’n’roll en finissant le concert avec un gang de rappers slammant sur notre musique.
